Flatirons Cup

Championship Tournament for Charity hosted by

Coal Creek Men’s Golf Association

GENERAL SUMMARY

  • The purpose of the Flatirons Cup is to represent each men’s club in a friendly competitive format with other clubs, and provide a charitable benefit to a local non-profit. Our hope is to establish a long tradition of camaraderie between clubs, competitive golf, and giving back to the community.

 

DIVISIONS

  • There is no handicap restriction for A players.
  • B players must have a handicap index of 6.0 or greater
  • C players must have a handicap index of 10.0 or greater
  • D players must have a handicap index of 14.0 or greater

 

FORMAT

  • Each club shall field a team consisting of 16 players. There is no adjustment of scores for handicap. ‘A’ players will tee off from the TNT tees, 'B' and 'C' players will tee off from Pick & Shovel tees and 'D' players will tee off from the Coal Car tees.
  • (4) ‘A’ players playing medal (Lowest 3 scores count each day)
  • (4) ‘B’ players playing medal (Lowest 3 scores count each day)
  • (4) ‘C’ players playing two 2-man Best Ball (Both team scores count)
  • (4) ‘D’ players playing two 2-man Scramble (Both team scores count)

 

PAYOUTS

  • Sixty percent (60%) of the player’s pool will go to the Flatirons Cup Champion club.
  • Forty percent (40%) of the player’s pool will be equally divided among the A, B, C and D teams with the lowest two-day scores (excluding those teams from the winning club).
  • Skins pots for each flight will be $300.00 per day.
  • Closest-to-the-pin holes will each be worth $25.00 per day (all 4 par-three holes).

 

TEAM CAPTAIN

  • The Team Captain (Captain) is designated by their club, and may also be a player Captain, and agrees to:
  • Be the primary point of contact for all tournament communications, team members, & club.
  • Responsible for meeting all tournament deadlines on behalf of club.
  • Responsible for fund raising on behalf of club.
  • Each team may elect to have a Vice Captain.

 

CADDIES

  • Each player may designate one caddie (optional).
  • A caddie may only caddie, discuss shots, offer advice to the player for whom they are designated.
  • All winnings are paid out to the player, no money is paid directly to the caddie.
  • No players may offer advice to teammates for reading greens, offering shot advice, etc.

 

TEAM ROSTERS

  • Clubs may field up to 32 players for the competition (16 players per day).
  • A copy of your club’s September 1st, 2021 revision USGA GHIN World handicap report.
  • Clubs must submit final roster declare their daily pairings no later than September 5th, 2021.
  • Final roster will be submitted in a spreadsheet provided by tournament director.
  • Substitutions for injury or illness are permitted, providing the Tournament Committee receives:
  • A minimum twenty-four (24) hour notice prior to tee time of the substitution and,
  • Verification of substitute’s tournament eligibility requirements.

TROPHY

  • The Flatirons Cup Championship club shall be presented with the Flatirons Cup trophy. Winning club is responsible for engraving club’s name on trophy, and returning trophy the following year to present to next winning club.

 

INNAGURAL YEAR

  • The intent of this event is to create a tradition of inter-club competitive golf, camaraderie between clubs, and giving back to our community for many years to come. Once a club has committed to join the tournament, that club is expected to maintain its participation each year. When the participating clubs have been finalized, the schedule of future hosts shall be determined by random selection. Once the host schedule has been established, that host rotation shall continue into the future.

  • 2027 (7th and final member of Flatirons Cup)

 

CHARITY CHAMPIONS AWARD

  • Every year a Charity Champions will be awarded at the awards ceremony to the club that raises the most money for the designated non-profit. Each club agrees, as part of the tournament entry, to participate in the fundraising activities for the non-profit. Each team will have a team fundraising website that will track all donations by the team. The cut off for donations eligible for the Charity Champions award will be at the end of the tournament.

 

AWARDS CEREMONY

  • Each year the hosting club shall organize and host an awards ceremony at the end of the tournament to present the winning team with the Flatirons Cup, the Charity Champions Trophy, and team and individual cash and prizes.

 

FLATIRONS CUP COMMITTEE

  • Each club shall designate one member to be on the Flatirons Cup Committee (Committee). The Committee shall:
  • Propose and vote to adopt changes related to rules, format, etc.
  • Establish tournament dates.
  • Each committee member shall be responsible for communicating changes, updates, etc, to their respective clubs.
  • All of the information provided in this invitation is to establish a starting point. The Committee shall make all final decisions.
